Bear hunting We cover a very large territory and we have some of the best guides available to maximize your success. This region produces bears averaging 200 pounds and a kill ratio of 85% or more. Every year at Taggart Bay Lodge we have taken bears weighing over 350 pounds. Most of the shots are between 15 and 35 yards. You can use rifles, muzzleloaders, shotguns, and bows. Semi-automatics are permitted. Make sure to specify your special needs so that whether you use bow, black powder, rifle, or shotgun, you will be satisfied. To make sure your trip is not only successful but also trouble free, we do everything for you: track your bear, bring it back to camp, skin it, and prepare the meat (freeze it) and pelts for your return trip. We will also fill out all the paper work (export tag and CITES permit). Taggart Bay Lodge is located on beautiful Kipawa Lake. Because of the area’s ideal reproduction conditions, fish are plentiful. Hundreds of streams, rivers and natural springs feed the lake year round. While Kipawa Lake is best known for walleye and lake trout, large northern pike are also caught in great numbers every year. Our cabins are equipped with electricity and feature lights and electric refrigerators. The stoves and hot water heaters operate on gas. Hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and bathtub showers are found in every cabin. Pots, pans, and cooking and eating utensils are supplied, as are linens. These cabins are heated with a wood stove or a gas fireplace and can accommodate 2 to 10 people. Each cabin has a dock. Most docks can easily accommodate 4 boats.
